This was my second project at the Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute. It started as a simple hanging wall cabinet, but I added some flair with shaped, proud dovetails and a geometric design on the door.
A few weeks before starting on the wall cabinet, I found the geometric design described in a Guardian article and I knew I wanted to use it for something. When this project came along, I knew I'd found the right thing.
I made a bookshelf out of cherry to hold the cabinet, as I was living in a rented apartment at the time, which prevented me from putting the cabinet in its rightful place on a wall.
